During the pandemic that we are going through, many friends and clients who know that I am a Business Continuity consultant, have asked me about Business Continuity Management after the Pandemic. Good question I answer…!
Once the global emergency was declared by the World Health Organization, we never thought about this scenario of risk of interruption, it would affect us in the way it is affecting us, for which we cannot hold those responsible for business risks responsible. or / and those in charge of business continuity plans at the company level, since we can keep it in mind, but with a highly unlikely occurrence. Although many companies are small, medium and large and from all sectors of the economy worldwide had to abide by the quarantine decreed by governments, they did not have within their scenarios the suspension of activities overnight due to a pandemic. (Many businessmen even thought «That doesn’t affect us»).
Currently, companies that have structured business continuity plans (BCP) and disaster recovery plans (DRP, focused on Technology), and that have overcome these uncertain times, must include within their business continuity radar, the update of the BCP and DRP plans, which include within their interruption scenarios, the pandemic scenario. Likewise, develop a robust verification test plan, which includes the disclosure of the plans to employees, so that they have the knowledge of what to do in a pandemic scenario.
