The Cloud

At this moment, organizations are fronting an economic recession either human capital and capital are necessary to keep on with software licensing and servers; they can be prohibited, but the constant accelaration of the cloud transformation is a fact. It is important to define the organization requirements to develop an recovery disaster strategy (DRP).

What is the cloud?

Microsoft company define it as “a term used to describe a global network of servers, each with a unique function. The cloud is not a physical entity, but instead is a vast network of remote servers around the globe which are hooked together and meant to operate as a single ecosystem”. Briefly, is an storage source with personal data in an intangible space. Is important to hightlight that there are thre types of clouds: public cloud, private cloud  and  hybrid cloud.

Despite it seems an easy topic, it requires a constant study and coaching to obtain the expected results and an optimum storage center. It also requires DRP to avoid information theft or manipulation.

What is the recovery plan about?

There are multiple ways to establish the development of a recovery plan, taking into account it must be align with the continuity plan. For its execution development, ESET proposes:

  1. Develop a business continuity policy.
  2. Make risks evaluation.
  3. Create a business impact analysis (BIA).
  4. Develop recovery strategies and business continuity.
  5. Aware, coach and test plans.
  6. Mantain and improve the recovery disaster plan.

Does organization has a defined and proved DRP plan?
